Process server here. Sharing a simple method I use to preserve evidence and stay inside pretext lines. My steps, kept in time-stamped notes:
- 07:10 arrive, wide photo of frontage with phone timestamp. if GPS stamp fails, I say on recorder, where lawful, ā07:10, 123 Oak, Attempt 1.ā
- 07:12 knock, wait two minutes, second knock, leave card if appropriate. Porch cam glare has been a snag at dawn.
- 07:16 depart. I note vehicles, lights, no-trespass signs, and any voices heard, nothing speculative. File handling:
- Name files YYYYMMDD_HHMM_address_attempt01.
- Save original photos to a cloud folder set to view only, no edits.
- Add a short note in SimpleNote and on paper with a Pilot G2. Pretext boundaries I stick to: no fake jobs, no claims Iām law enforcement, no lies about what the document is. Anyone using a reliable timestamp camera app or an easy way to lock originals?
