Odd CE credit quirks tripping me up

Anyone else had a provider mark a course “non-interactive” and have the board reject it for the ethics hour? Last week my 2-hour ethics webinar didn’t count because the Q&A was typed, not live, which left me one hour short before a 9/30 renewal. How do you confirm a course will satisfy those edge rules in your state, and is there any specific wording you look for on the provider page (I’ll do my own research, just trying to avoid another gotcha)?

Which state are you in? I email the board’s CE contact with the course outline and ask if “synchronous, real-time audio Q&A” meets their interactive ethics rule, and I only enroll if the provider agrees to put that wording on the certificate… Dumb that typed Q&A fails — feels like a robot bouncer — but sticking to the board’s approved list has saved me from the 9/30 panic.

One thing that’s worked for me: before registering, I ask the provider for a sample completion certificate and confirm it explicitly says “live voice Q&A” and labels the hour as Ethics; if they won’t put that on the cert, I skip it… @wyattmor’s route is solid too — I got a chat‑only webinar reversed once because I had that cert language; want the exact line I request?

, @OP, I’ve started asking whether their “webinar” is run in Zoom Meeting with open mics (not Webinar mode), and whether they log two-way audio/polling — if they confirm that in writing, my ethics hour has cleared audits. After getting burned right before a 9/30 cutoff, I also save the agenda and a quick screenshot of the platform settings to attach if there’s a rejection. Do you remember if yours was chat-only Webinar mode?

After that typed Q&A hiccup, ask for a state approval number showing ‘synchronous ethics — live audio’.
