Do hour-long meetings actually help

I cut our weekly sync from 60 minutes to 25 last Tuesday and nothing broke — if anything, we got to the point faster. Are we overvaluing buffer time, or am I missing situations where that extra 35 minutes genuinely changes outcomes?

We cut ours from 60 to 25 too; pre-reads and a clear decision owner made it faster. > or am I missing situations where that extra 35 minutes Yes — cross-team decisions with 3+ stakeholders or a retro with real tension sometimes need 45–50 to land consensus. Default 25, escalate to 45 only for those cases; do you have pre-reads or a parking lot to keep it tight?
